Registration

Registration opens tonight, April 28, 2014 at 8:00PM.  The Registration link will be posted here on the website at that time.

Please be prepared to give the following information on the form:

What subcamp your child wants (1st and 2nd choice), your child’s student ID#, Names and two phone numbers each for two adults (parents/guardians or emergency contacts), and Physician name and phone number

You DO NOT need to “log in” or “register” using the links to the right.  Just wait for the post tonight at 8pm and the link to CAMP REGISTRATION.

What is your middle school child doing this summer? There is a top-notch summer camp right here in your neighborhood!

Your teenager is a Very Important Person. Sign them up for a summer of fun and leisure at the Western Fairfax VIP Sports & Fitness Camp! V.I.P. is designed to encourage teens to develop healthy and positive recreation interests and features a wide variety of leisure activities and services. Camp is free; with costs only associated with field trips and special activities.  This camp is sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools and Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services guaranteeing a quality program for your child.  To be eligible, students must be a rising 7th, 8th or 9th grader residing in Fairfax County.

Details

This year’s camp is at STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL and is divided into two 2-week sessions.  Campers attend Monday thru Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM, Session 1 (June 30th-July 11th) or Session 2 (July 14th-July 25th).    In order to serve more students, campers are only able to register for one of the two sessions.  Campers from both sessions are invited to attend the final week of games, field trips (including Kings Dominion) and special activities (July 28th-July 31st).  Campers must attend 90% of days in their session and be in good behavioral standings to attend the final week.

The camp’s weekly schedule includes a half-day of sports and a half-day of activities to include cooking and creative technology and art.  Additionally, students are invited to participate in weekly field trips to local water parks.  The camp is FREE, but students must pay in advance for field trip admittance fees (totaling no more than $100 for all trips).  Discounted field trip rates are available for families with financial hardships.   Field Trip details and fee information will be released after registration has been confirmed.

Transportation

There is morning and afternoon bus transportation available to/from Stone MS from the middle schools communities we serve. The bus stops are at Franklin MS, Lanier MS, Liberty MS and Rocky Run MS. Additionally, supervised after camp activities are available at the Mott Community Center from 5-7PM. Transportation will be provided from Stone to Mott, but parents are responsible for picking their child up from Mott.

Choose a Subcamp

Students will be placed in one of the four subcamps listed below.  They will stay with that group for the entire session.  When registering, you will be asked for a first and second choice so please be familiar with the subcamps.

Girls Fit Quest is a VIP Summer Camp subcamp introducing girls to healthy eating and fitness habits while building friendships, self-confidence and teamwork skills. Most importantly, campers benefit from a dynamic, interactive fitness and nutrition curriculum with a focus on achieving goals, loving yourself and working together.  Guaranteed to be fun, educational and get you fit!  This year we will divide the group based on goals.  You will be asked to sign-up for either Fit Quest light, for an introduction to fitness (ideal for the lightly motivated camper) or Fit Quest Extreme, for a goal-oriented fitness/nutrition program (for the highly motivated camper). Motivation is the key to success in Fit Quest Extreme, not prior fitness level. Programs are tailored to individual needs and abilities.

Boys Sports Conditioning subcamp is the answer to the aspiring athlete’s needs. Students will learn appropriate weight room and conditioning workouts geared toward specific sports such as basketball and football. The camp will be lead by current college athletes and will feature running, agility and speed drills. Camp is designed to prepare students for high school or recreational sports.

Soccer Academy subcamp is for the intermediate to advanced player who loves soccer.  Improve your individual and team skills with proven advanced training by a dedicated soccer expert.  Guaranteed to improve your skills!  Girls and boys welcome.

Mixed Sports subcamp is for the girl or boy who wants to be active, but enjoys a variety of sports.  Mixed sports will focus on one or two sports every week.  Sports include Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer and more.  Students do not need any prior experience with these sports.
