What is your middle school child doing this summer? There is a top-notch summer camp right here at Rocky Run! It’s the Rocky Run VIP Summer Sports Camp.
Students attend Monday thru Friday, 8:00-4:00, July 1st- August 1st. Students can sign-up for one of the four subcamps: Girls Fit Quest, Boys Sports Conditioning, Co-ed Soccer, or Co-ed Mixed Sports. The camp’s weekly schedule includes a half-day of sports, half-day of activities to include theater improvisation games, creative technology, cooking, community service, and 1 or 2 field trips per week. Field trips currently include a Waterpark, Highroads Outdoor Teambuilding Experience, Funland, Roller Skating, and Kings Dominion. This camp is sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools and Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood Services guaranteeing a quality program for your child.
To be eligible, students must be a rising 7th, 8th or 9th grader enrolled in a FCPS school. This VIP Camp gives preference to students in the Franklin MS, Lanier MS, Liberty MS, Rocky Run MS and Stone MS neighborhoods. The camp is free, but students must pay in advance for field trip admittance fees (totaling no more than $150). Discounted field trip rates available for families with financial hardships. Field Trip details and fee information will be released after registration has been confirmed. Contact your Middle School After School Specialist with questions or for help with registering. We are lucky to be able to provide transportation in the morning and afternoon. The bus stops are Franklin MS, Lanier MS, Liberty MS, and Stone MS. In the afternoon we also have a bus that takes campers to the Mott Community Center for an optional after-care program until 7PM.
Girls Fit Quest is a VIP Summer Camp subcamp introducing girls to healthy eating and fitness habits while building friendships, self-confidence and teamwork skills. Most importantly, campers benefit from a dynamic, interactive fitness and nutrition curriculum with a focus on achieving goals, loving yourself and working together. This is an introductory fitness camp for middle school girls who need to develop a healthier lifestyle. Guaranteed to be fun, educational and get you fit!
Boys Sports Conditioning subcamp is the answer to the aspiring athlete’s needs. Learn appropriate weight room and conditioning workouts geared toward specific sports. Get in shape for high school or community sports.
Soccer Academy subcamp is for the intermediate to advanced player who loves soccer. Improve your individual and team skills with proven advanced training by a dedicated soccer expert. Guaranteed to improve your skills! Girls and boys welcome.
Mixed Sports subcamp is for the girl or boy who wants to be active, but enjoys a variety of sports. Mixed sports will focus on one or two sports every week. Sports include Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer and more. Students do not need any prior experience with these sports.
